457 Squadron (Farnborough) Air Cadets

Welcome to the page of 457 Squadron, whether you are an existing cadet, thinking of joining us or a parent of a prospective cadet looking to find out more this site will help give you a flavour of who we are and what we do.

The Air cadets is a national civilian youth organisation sponsored by the RAF and has 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years old spread across 900 Squadrons throughout the UK. Joining the Air Cadets does not carry any duty for later service and we are not a recruitment agency for the RAF. However cadets do gain a range of skills and experience that make them more attractive to a wide range of employers including the public services and RAF if that is their ambition.

We are by far one of the most active cadet units in the wing if not the region and within the squadron you will get the opportunity to complete a huge range of activities including abseiling, climbing, target shooting, expedition, Duke of Edinburgh awards and sports. Through our affiliation to the rest of the Air Training Corps and with support from the RAF we are able to offer opportunities to experience overseas camps, flying in military aircraft and for our older members even jumping out of them after completing a parachute course! As the majority of our funding comes from the MOD and we are run by volunteers we are able to offer young people life experiences that are often beyond the financial reach of their families.

Come along and get involved!
